GOP Blocks Vote on Sebelius for HHS

Saying they needed more time to consider her record, Senate Republicans Thursday refused to allow confirmation vote on Gov. Kathleen Sebelius (D-Kansas), President Obama’s nominee to head the Department of Health and Human Services. Read more in the Washington Post.

  1. "...refused to allow" - Doesn't that really mean that Harry Reid refused to call for a cloture vote? Why would he do that? Aren't there only three reasons: 1) He agrees that more debate is needed, 2) He's man enough to defer to the minority's request for more time, or 3) He's afraid a cloture move would fail at this point?

    To imply that the Republicans can refuse to allow a confirmation vote mischaracterizes the facts in favor of prejudicing the mind of the reader.
