Sault Ste. Marie to Lay Off Tribal and Casino Workers

The Sault Tribe of Chippewa Indians and Kewadin Casinos will reduce its workforce by 2 percent this month. The move will affect all Tribal and casino facilities in the Upper Peninsula.
"Unfortunately, over the years, millions in tribal reserves has been dwindled down to nothing. According to financial analysts, if changes are not made, the tribe will not recover," said Joe McCoy, Sault Ste. Marie tribal chairman in a press release.

The announcement was made to team members earlier this week.

"Although it appears to be a very dim situation right now, it is one that we will fix," said McCoy. "We are making adjustments, as hard as they are, so that we can maintain what we have and move the tribe forward."

  1. Hello, don't keep moving forward!!! Stop take a look at what your doing and stop the waste as at our tribe in the southwest we keep moving forward to the tune of politicians tribal council and we are getting deep in to losing all of our funds. evaluate what is causing the spending and wastefulness and reinvest in the people, they are the real assets. Loose some of those top dollar employees with in the tribe and casino causing this spending. Take care with your assets, not the politicians and get rid of that phrase Keep moving forward NO!! Stop take a look at what is going on, not keep moving at a tangent you'll end up somewhere else other than where you are going and then you have to spend more money fixing it You may even want to reflect to remove yourself due to your mentality is to keep moving forward with that understanding. it is with that understanding you are digging your tribe even deeper in the quandry.
