The U.S. Senate Thursday approved the Soboba Band of Luiseño Indians Settlement Act, which is now headed to the President’s desk for approval. The vote puts an end to 75 years of litigation by the Soboba Band and creates new sources of water for California residents. The legislation awards the Soboba Band $18 million from local water districts and $11 million from the federal government. It also gives the tribe the right to 2 billion gallons of water annually from the aquifer. Read more about it
